Fraction Baking
First Lisa told us what we would be making. Lolly Cake - Yummy!
We separated the malt biscuits into 3 equal bags to crush. We had 9 biscuits in each bag with 1 biscuit left over. We crushed the biscuits with baked beans and pineapple tins.
Nga cut up the eskimo lollies into quarters, 4 pieces each.
Lisa melted the butter and the condensed milk.
We mixed the lollies and the mixture together.
We at the last 2 lollies. We cut them into halves so everyone got an equal piece.
We put the mixture onto some baking paper and wrapped it up to make a log.
Then we put the log in the fridge to harden up.

There were not many strikes given out this week - good work team!
It was great that Sophie and Nicole got to plan their class treat.
Daniel said "Maths is going really well - everyone has been doing hard work and concentrating."
Logan said "MMM really helps you with your normal Maths."
Chris said "We are loving writing our Outback Australia story on google docs together - each person can see what each other has written."

The taste of Easter
If you are going to resist the urge to eat chocolate this Easter - read these wonderful samples of writing. You'll feel like you've tasted something yummo after reading these!
Logan wrote . . .
The delicious treat gets placed in front of me. It smells too good for me to eat. It is an oval. It is really easy to chew. It is smooth inside the egg. It was hollow. I could not stop myself from eating it.

The delicious treat gets placed in front of me. I peeled it open. I feel it slowly melting in my mouth. It was all I was waiting for. Then it was in the belly of the beast.

The delicious round treat gets placed in front of me. It is soooo hard to resist but Mrs Keach says we can't eat them yet. The egg smells soooo good, a chocolatey flavoured smell. I can't wait to eat it. I can imagine unwrapping it and savouring every bite.
It is starting to change colour as I start to unwrap it. It is hollow. I put it to my mouth and lick, everyone else did it to. It felt smooth. My teeth crunch. I chew it. Chew, chew, mmm, yum, finally what I have been waiting for... I take the whole wrapper off and... crunch, crunch, nom nom nom. Now I feel disappointed that it's gone. HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!

The delicious treat gets placed in front of me. It smells like melted chocolate hardened into it's shape. It feels hard but with tiny little lumps. It looks purple on the outside but on the inside I know it is chocolate. It's finally time to take the coloured wrapping off. The colour starts to change as I peel the wrapper off. Wow, it felt so smooth in my hand and it looks so delicious. I give it a lick and it tastes like softened chocolate. Then I take my first bite, milky warm chocolate. I start to eat more. Inside the hollow area I get a surprise of little bits inside. I am slowly demolishing it in my mouth. It gets smaller and smaller . . . all gone!
News Reporting - Week 8
This week Cassie and Cooper were our news reporters. They chose to cover a national story relating to our topic Native New Zealand.

Book Making with the 3 sisters, Thelma, Irene and Mary!
On our final day with our visiting artists we made books - first screen printing our covers, then covering the back and insides, then finishing with binding our books - which took some sewing skills!
We also had an opportunity to make a piece of flax paper each - a big thank you to Cassie with her help in leading this.
They will be books to treasure!!!
We will post the fabulous finished products next week.
